The complaint alleges that during the Class Period defendants made false and misleading statements and/or allegedly failed to disclose that Sientra’s limited dependence on Silimed’s Brazilian manufacturing facilities had sizeable quality control risks; the manufacturing processes at the Silimed Rio de Janeiro manufacturing plant were contaminated; which resulted in Sientra statements regarding quality control and other financial statements to be materially false and misleading at all relevant times. 

On September 24, 2015, United Kingdom’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (“MHRA”) made an announcement that it had suspended sales of Silimed products after an audit of Silimed’s manufacturing processes revealed contamination in Silimed’s Rio de Janeiro manufacturing plant.

After this announcement was made, NASDAQ:SIEN dropped $10.88, or nearly 52.9%, to close at $9.70 on September 24, 2015.
