Summary: | Thieler Law Corp advises investors with losses exceeding $100,000 of the January 29, 2019 lead plaintiff deadline in a class action lawsuit filed against Cheetah Mobile Inc (NYSE: CMCM) (“Cheetah” or “the Company”). The suit is pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and investors, who purchased Cheetah Mobile Inc securities between April 26, 2017 and November 27, 2018, have until January 29, 2019 to move for lead plaintiff. You do not need to move for lead plaintiff to be a member of the Class. If you purchased Cheetah Mobile Inc securities during the Class Period, and have losses over $100,000, you may contact Thieler Law Corp by calling at (619) 377 - 4324 or emailing mail@thielerlaw.com . No class has been certified in this case, and if your losses are less than $100,000 you are still a member of the class. The complaint alleges that during the Class Period defendants made false and misleading statements and/or allegedly failed to disclose that Cheetah's mobile apps had embedded features, which were not disclosed, and which tracked when users downloaded new apps; Cheetah improperly used this data to claim credit for having caused the downloads; the foregoing features, when discovered, would foreseeably result in the removal of Cheetah's apps from the Google Play store; the Company's Class Period revenues were in part the product of improper conduct and so unsustainable; and Cheetah's public statements were materially false and misleading at all relevant times. On November 26, 2018, a report by BuzzFeed News revealed that certain Cheetah apps on the Google Play store were exploiting user permissions as part of an ad fraud scheme. According to the article, some Cheetah apps “tracked when users downloaded new apps and used this data to inappropriately claim credit for having caused the download.” On this news, NYSE: CMCM fell $3.32 per share or roughly 37% over the next two trading days to close at $5.48 on November 27, 2018.
